The 2021 growing season, while on the warmer side, produced some incredible wines. Our 2021 Syrah, awarded 91 points from Wine Enthusiast, is no exception. This wine has an incredible warmth, with hints of toasted cedar, white pepper, and vanilla to accent the rich, dark berry flavors.
A Note from Winemaker, Leo Gabica
"Syrah was a favorite of our Founder, Dan. He would regularly host friends and family over for dinner, and rarely would the table be set without a bottle of Syrah. He found it a versatile food pairing and, mostly, a wonderful shared experience that sparked meaningful and engaging conversations. When the fruit arrived from Quail Run Vineyards and Pebblestone Vineyards of the Rogue Valley, I kept each vineyard separate during fermentation. However, I cold-soaked the fruit for 3 days before fermentation for both vineyards. I aim to gently extract beautiful colors and develop aromas and flavors through this process. After primary fermentation, we transfer the wine to French-American hybrid barrels for 19 months. With the vintage being warmer than average, we wanted to highlight the fruit characteristics with the oak aging, but not overpower it. The majority of the oak was 3rd use and neutral, this achieves the elegant textures we strive for. We were honored to receive 91 points from Wine Enthusiast. Cheers."
