Featured in Forbes for Come Over October, "Sweet Cheeks Quail Run Vineyard Grenache is a great party wine with its lightly tannic profile and forward fruitiness—this one from Oregon is aged in French oak so it brings a bit of weight to palate, which brims with ripe cherry notes tempered with a bit of smoke and spice."
Sourced from our friends, Quail Run Vineyards, in the Rogue Valley AVA. This vineyard site is western facing with beautiful sun exposure - and the grapes are extra spoiled with mountain views. With gravely silt loam soils and elevations of 1,600 feet - these grapes live the true old-time Western lifestyle. This must be why you get a little taste of the Wild West.
A Note from Winemaker, Leo Gabica
“The 2021 vintage has been a favorite for our red wines. With temperatures a little higher than average, we had rich depths of flavor. We cold-soaked the Grenache for three days prior to primary fermentation. Then, we barrel-aged the wine for 19 months in French oak : 16% new oak and 84% neutral oak. Like Pinot Noir, the Grenache is a beautiful grape that expresses the terroir within the flavor profile. If you are new to my winemaking style - or the wines of Sweet Cheeks Winery - we try to capture the true flavor profiles of the varietal, the vintage, and the vineyard site. I do like to age most of our red wines for a minimum of 18 months to provide a touch more body - so this Grenache will be more of a medium, to almost full, in body. If you are looking for a wine that is adjacent to the Pinot Noir, but has just a little something extra - this is the wine for you. Cheers.”

We love to enjoy the Grenache with grilled or smoked meats, stews, and charcuterie. You could also pair the Grenache with a mild curry or goulash.
